Celebrate the Festive Season with Cafe Roma’s Exclusive Christmas and New Year’s Menu

Hong Kong, 13 December 2016 – Deck the halls and roast those chestnuts! Yes, it’s that time of year again and Park Island’s favourite beachside restaurant, Cafe Roma, can’t wait to celebrate the holidays with you. In honour of the festivities, celebrity chef Jaakko Sorsa proudly presents an exclusive Christmas and New Year’s Menu featuring a selection of luxurious holiday dishes. The 3-course dinner menus even include a glass of wine to help you fully relax into the festive spirit. Available on 24, 25 and 31 December only, reserve your table now to make sure Cafe Roma is part of your holiday tradition this year!

This year’s Christmas menu (served on 24 and 25 December only), starts with a holiday classic; the Roasted Chestnut Soup. Made with honey-roasted chestnuts and served with a drizzle of white truffle oil, this festive starter is rich, earthy and sumptuous – the perfect warming appetiser to kick-start your Christmas feast. Alternatively, the Smoked Salmon Tartare, served with avocado, tomato and bell pepper sauce, is a refreshing option that has proved to be an all-round crowd-pleaser in recent years. Guests can follow up their tasty starter with a choice of three mains; dine on a fresh Tarragon-Poached White Cod Fillet accompanied by a trout roe hollandaise sauce, or a juicy Grilled US Black Angus Sirloin Steak served with rosemary-seasoned potato gratin, red cabbage and cognac sauce. The steak dish also features Brussels sprouts as an homage to the traditional Christmas dinner; broken into leaves before roasting, Cafe Roma’s version of these leafy green vegetables are crunchy and refreshing – a far cry from the soggy and bitter ordeal of your childhood nightmares! For vegetarian diners the Artichoke & Zucchini Risotto, complete with cherry tomatoes, rocket and feta cheese, is both a lighter and healthier option, allowing you room to sneak an extra helping of Christmas chocolate later! Finally, guests will end their meal on a sweet treat high with the tangy yet creamy Mango Cheesecake. To accompany this glorious gourmet feast guests can choose to sip on a glass of Mapachi Chardonnay (Chile, 2015), a light white with ripe flavours of melon and tropical fruit, or Mapachi Cabernet Sauvignon (Chile, 2015), a fuller bodied red with notes of juicy berry infused with hints of delicate floral.

To ring in the New Year, Cafe Roma has an extravagant treat in store for guests. The New Year’s menu (served on 31 December only) begins with a choice of either the Porcini Mushroom Soup or the Smoked Italian Beef Carpaccio. The former makes use of less cream and more porcini to really infuse the soup with a nutty flavour that is only accentuated by the accompanying hazelnut ‘croutons’ and hazelnut oil. The Beef Carpaccio, on the other hand, boasts a buttery and tender texture with a light and delicate flavour – heaven on a plate! The foodie indulgence continues with a selection of three lavish mains. The Half Atlantic Lobster Tail & Grilled Hokkaido Scallops is a fresh and succulent seafood dish consisting of Hokkaido scallops paired with lobster cooked in cheese and breadcrumbs as a traditional Thermidor – this is undoubtedly the star of the show, guaranteed to ensure a memorable finale to 2016. Proving that a meat-free choice can be just as fancy and decadent, Cafe Roma is also offering a Truffle & Camembert Risotto option for any vegetarian guests. In addition, the Grilled US Black Angus Sirloin Steak will be available once again due to popular demand, this time paired with black truffle potatoes, French beans, roasted cherry tomatoes and three peppercorn sauce (featuring black, green and pink peppercorns), leaving the palate with tender and complex flavours. Complete your meal with a Crème Brûlée Tart – the perfect prequel to the night’s main countdown event. As the clock strikes twelve, welcome 2017 with a celebratory glass of Clair Diamant Blanc de Blancs Brut (France, NV) – a refreshing white blended with specially selected Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and other grape varieties to achieve a crisp, clean palate.

Gourmet Winter Delights Land at Cafe Roma

Hong Kong, 30 November 2016 – As temperatures begin to drop in the 852 and summer becomes all but a distant memory, Cafe Roma has a new menu to brighten those winter blues. Park Island’s favourite beachside restaurant is delighted to introduce a new range of healthy yet hearty dishes in their latest menu update. Led by celebrity chef Jaakko Sorsa, the kitchen team have concocted a number of tasty treats suitable for the whole family to enjoy, including any vegetarians. In addition, the menu update will see the return of an old Cafe Roma classic, as well as a ‘fantasy’ twist on everyone’s favourite comfort food.

At Cafe Roma, the emphasis is all about enjoying a relaxing and fun filled moment with family and loved ones, so it’s no surprise that their appetiser and snack options are designed for sharing. Now, with their new menu update, vegetarians can join in the sharing fun too thanks to the introduction of the Vegetarian Snack Combo Platter (HK$108) . Packed with a selection of popular fried snacks, including fried mozzarella sticks, fried mushrooms, and French fries, complemented by a trio of saucy dips (Tomato Basil, Roma’s Tomato Ketchup, and Jalapeño), there is something to suit all taste buds! The Fried Mozzarella Sticks (HK$78) and freshly-baked Garlic Bread (HK$68) are new menu additions which are also ideal for splitting amongst a group – if you can bear to share that is!

Perhaps the most popular dish at Cafe Roma over the years has been the humble pizza. Loved by even the fussiest of eaters, pizza is everyone’s favourite cheat treat, and now Cafe Roma is making it even better by allowing you to customise the dish to your very own version of perfection. Choose from a range of 20 ingredients such as Hoisin-Roasted Duck, Tiger Prawns, Camembert, Gorgonzola, Leek, and Bell Peppers , to name but a few. Go crazy and build your Fantasy Pizza (HK$148) – the more unique the better!

Moving onto other mains, this season will see the return of an old Cafe Roma classic, Fish & Chips (HK$168) . Made with fresh, crispy-fried Sea Bass fillets, and served with French fries, tangy Tartar sauce and a wedge of lemon, this well-loved British favourite is the ultimate beachside comfort food for a lazy weekend lunch. Sticking to the seafood theme, Cafe Roma is excited to introduce yet another new Sea Bass option in this menu update. This time a Grilled Sea Bass Fillet (HK$178) is served on top of a tasty Porcini mushroom risotto and adorned with delicate sautéed kale and a bell pepper sauce accompaniment – this is best enjoyed with a chilled glass of white wine from Cafe Roma’s extensive beverage menu.

If you fancy something a little lighter, Cafe Roma is also introducing two new refreshing and flavourful salad options: the Roasted Chicken, Pumpkin, Tomato, Mozzarella & Couscous Salad (HK$118) and the Roasted Beetroot, Yellow Beetroot, Quinoa & Blood Orange Salad (HK$108) . Both of these dishes are colourful and packed full of fun textures and delicious flavours – who says healthy eating has to be boring?

Alternatively, for all the meat-lovers out there, prepare to enter epicurean heaven with the arrival of a brand new pulled pork dish: the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Salad & French Fries (HK$108) . Slow-cooked in a smoky barbeque sauce, the pulled pork filling is a surprisingly healthy option, containing fewer calories than its typical beef and chicken counterparts. Cafe Roma predicts that this dish will become an instant winter favourite in the coming months.

No meal is complete without dessert, and in this new menu update, Cafe Roma is introducing the holy grail of sweet treats – the Warm Chocolate Cake (HK$78) . Decadent and oh so moist and fudgy, the richness of the Belgian chocolate is balanced by a side of cooling Mövenpick vanilla ice- cream; this is the chocoholic’s dessert of dreams. If that hasn’t caught your attention then the Apricot Tart (HK$78) certainly will; served with whipped cream and toasted almond flakes, this is one dessert that is definitely worth saving room for!

Get Your Beach on with Cafe Roma’s Summer Picnic Basket

Hong Kong, 24 August 2016 – It’s no secret that Park Island’s favourite beachside restaurant, Cafe Roma, occupies one of the best spots along the Ma Wan Tung Wan Beach strip, and this summer the restaurant is making the most of its picturesque location by bringing back their ever-popular Summer Picnic Basket! Cafe Roma is offering the ultimate alfresco dining experience, whether you plan to gather a group of friends and family for a lazy afternoon at the beach, or surprise a loved one with a romantic date under the stars, the Summer Picnic Basket has everything you need to enjoy a gourmet beachside feast, all set against the stunning backdrop of the iconic Tsing Ma Bridge.

The picnic basket serves two persons and includes the signature Cafe Roma Iberico Platter, featuring an assortment of Prime Spanish Acorn-Fed Black Pork Cold Cuts, complete with chunks of Parmesan Grana Padano, marinated artichokes, olives, grilled zucchini, and sticks of baby mozzarella and cherry tomatoes with pesto. Other treats include a whole Camembert cheese and a full-sized, freshly baked baguette; nachos with guacamole, tomato salsa, sour cream and jalapeños; a refreshingly appetising Caesar Salad; one regular-sized pizza or pasta of your choice from the à la carte menu; Chef Jaakko’s delectable Milk Chocolate Macadamia Biscuits; and two bottles of still or sparkling water. Vegetarian and special dietary options are available upon request. Guests can also choose to add any wines or beers from the beverage menu at a 50% discount.

All picnic baskets come with a custom Cafe Roma beach mat for guests to take home as a memento of their summer picnic on the beach. An additional HK$250 deposit will be charged with each picnic basket order, refundable upon return of the wicker picnic basket and silver cutlery to the restaurant.

Simply call Cafe Roma at (852) 3446 1226 or email reservations@caferoma.com.hk at least 24 hours in advance (excluding Monday) to pre-order a fully stocked picnic basket to go at HK$488 each. The picnic basket is available for pick-up all day, Tuesdays to Sundays.
