What an extraordinary journey we have shared around our tables since 2011. As we prepare to turn off our stoves at the end of June 2025, our hearts overflow with gratitude for all the memories we have created together.
From our humble beginnings as a neighbourhood cafe, we grew into a cherished gathering place and became renowned as one of Hong Kong’s top beachside destinations and most delightful family-friendly spots. Together, we created magical moments through our celebrated events – from the exciting Easter Egg Hunts and Moon Parties to creative Pizza Workshops and the famously entertaining Water Battle Days.
To our loyal customers who became friends, our dedicated team who became family, and our trusted suppliers who became partners – your kindness and enthusiasm helped us through every challenge, from economic downturns to navigating a pandemic together. Ma Wan was not just our location; it became where we truly belonged.
Before we turn off the lights, we would be honoured if you would join us between 6 June and 29 June for a celebration of all we have shared. Come to enjoy our signature dishes, stay for the stories, and raise a glass with our team!

Cafe Roma Presents Themed Beach Egg-hunting Adventure with Attractive Prizes
Cafe Roma, the popular family-friendly Italian restaurant located next to Ma Wan Beach, has always been well-loved by parents and children, creating joyful moments for numerous families over the years. Cafe Roma is delighted to announce the return of its Easter event, “Easter in Roma Land”. Join us as the restaurant transforms into a whimsical world, inviting children on a beach egg-hunting adventure with a complimentary signature Amazing Kids Set, ensuring guests of all ages are guaranteed to have a memorable and enjoyable time.
Discover the Egg-Hunting Exhilaration
Experience the thrill of our extended Easter egg hunt event, spanning across the Easter weekend and the preceding weekend, offering 5 days of excitement for children and families alike. Each session commences with a whimsical touch as guests are encouraged to dress up as Easter-inspired characters. Each participating child will be delighted with an Amazing Kids Set, while the accompanying adult is treated to a refreshing glass of beer, ensuring everyone is well-fuelled for the 30-minute egg hunt. Kids will be rewarded with various prizes at the end of each session, with a special award for the best dressed Easter-inspired character adding to the excitement. * Each session includes a 1.5-hour dining period and a 30-minute egg hunt session. While each participating child can be accompanied by an adult during the egg hunt, the other guests can remain seated and continue dining.
* Due to limited capacity per session, participation will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis based on the payment time.
* A minimum charge of HK$150 per adult is applied for dine-in on weekends and public holidays, guests may order from the main menu. (Exclusive of event fee)

Cafe Roma x Marcus & Marcus Amusing Kids Set
Each of the Cafe Roma x Marcus & Marcus Amusing Kids Set offers a nutritious MSG-free meal that is sure to please all the little ones. The set includes a soup of the day, a main course with a side dish, and a cup of juice. Three options of main dish are available: Mini Chicken Burger, Spaghetti Bolognese, and Mini Hawaiian Pizza. The kids set is served in a themed mealtime set from Marcus & Marcus, a renowned Canadian brand that won a host of international awards. Their products feature the vibrant colours and fun elements that captivate children’s attention and make mealtime more enjoyable.
The Mini Chicken Burger set offers a unique dining experience with its sand pool plate that matches the environment. Children can choose between crispy French fries or creamy mashed potatoes as their side dish. The Spaghetti Bolognese set is served in the pilot plate, allowing the pasta to twirl within “the steering wheel” for some mealtime fun. The Mini Hawaiian Pizza set comes with the little chef plate, where “the pan” is full of fresh salad and fruits, while the dessert of the day is baking inside “the oven”. All sets are available throughout the day and are priced at HK$118.
An Array of Kids Amenities for a Fun Dining Experience
To further enhance the family-friendly atmosphere, a range of children-friendly amenities are included in the design. The restaurant has set up an outdoor beach fun area with an excellent range of beach toys for kids’ enjoyment. By providing a diverse array of complimentary kids fun facilities including storybook and picture book collection, colouring set, toys and more, parents could enjoy their meal at Cafe Roma by simply monitoring their kids while kids are having fun at the outdoor beach fun area.
Indulge in Premium yet Affordable Italian Party Delicacies
Choosing an event that fulfils both the entertainment needs of children and culinary desires of adults is never easy. Cafe Roma offers classic Italian cuisine using premium and fresh ingredients, prepared in traditional cooking techniques to present the authentic flavours from pasta to risotto, thin-crust pizza to main courses.
Classic Spaghetti Carbonara, Cafe Roma’s signature dish, is made with guanciale, pecorino Romano cheese, and pasteurised egg yolk. Unlike many carbonara recipes, this dish contains no cream, yet still preserves the authentic Italian flavour. Another must-try is Seafood Risotto in Lobster Bisque, assorted seafood such as fresh clams, fresh Australian mussels, seabass, prawns, and baby calamari are first sautéed, and then simmered with Italian risotto in lobster bisque, allowing each grain of rice to absorb the seafood essence, creating a delicious and nutrient-rich dish. Lastly, Italian cuisine is incomplete without pizza, and Cafe Roma is renowned for its crispy and thin-crust pizza, making it a must-have delicacy for any meal.

Cafe Roma Reopens with Major Renovation
Cafe Roma, a beachfront alfresco Italian restaurant at Ma Wan, is proud to announce the completion of its major renovation project. The design concept is inspired by the idea that family gatherings and food are integral parts of Italian culture. The warm and inviting atmosphere, natural materials, rustic elements, and dedicated kids facilities all work together to create a space that encourages families to gather and enjoy each other’s company over authentic Italian cuisine.
Experience Warmth and Hospitality of Italian Culture in the Rustic Italian Ambiance
“Family gatherings and food are the focal points of Italian way of living, and we wanted to create a space that reflects that,” said the restaurant manager. “We are excited to provide a family-friendly dining experience that not only offers authentic Italian cuisine but also immerses our guests in the warmth and hospitality of Italian culture.”
The design concept centres around the use of warm colours, natural materials, and rustic elements to create an ambiance that transports diners to the heart of Italy. The walls are painted in beige tone to resonate with the relaxing beach view. The soft lighting is warm and inviting that creates a cosy and intimate ambiance. The main dining area features a stunning feature brick wall with a marbled chimney, inspired by traditional Italian home kitchens.
The furniture is made of dark wood and features comfortable seating that is perfect for gatherings. The tables are large and sturdy, allowing for plenty of space for family-style dining or working by the beach while enjoying a cup of coffee alongside with excellent Wi-Fi connection and multiple power plugs and USB outlets. The decor includes rustic elements such as exposed brick walls, barrels and ropes that add to the warm and inviting atmosphere.
Family-Friendly Amenities and Kids’ Pizza Workshops for a Fun Dining Experience
To further enhance the family-friendly atmosphere, a range of children-friendly amenities are included in the design. The restaurant has setup an outdoor beach fun area with an excellent range of beach toys for kids’ enjoyment. By providing a diverse array of complimentary kids fun facilities including storybook and picture book collection, colouring set, toys and more, parents could enjoy their meal at Cafe Roma by simply monitoring their kids while kids are having fun at the outdoor beach fun area. Besides, kids’ pizza workshops are available on specified dates where they can design and create their own pizzas with parents.
New Authentic Italian Menu: Indulge in the Flavours of Italy!
Cafe Roma welcomes the new look with a refresh of the restaurant’s menu, featuring classic Italian dishes made with fresh, authentic ingredients sourced from Italy. Guests can now indulge in a variety of pasta dishes, crispy-crust pizzas, and hearty main courses, all prepared with traditional Italian techniques and flavours.
At Cafe Roma, we believe that antipasti are an essential part of any feast, setting the stage for the satisfying meal to come. That’s why we take pride in slicing our cold cuts to order, right in front of our guests, to ensure optimal serving temperature and taste, whetting their appetite and preparing them for culinary journey ahead.
Being a coastal restaurant, we understand the importance of seafood in Italian cuisine and the love for it among Hongkongers. Therefore, we offer a range of seafood appetisers that are sure to please, including our Tuna Tartare with Tropea Onions, Light Spicy Avocado Salsa with Roasted Pine Nuts, as well as our Fritto Misto di Mare. Our Tuna Tartare, made with sashimi-grade tuna, is mixed with Tropea onions, creating a chewy yet crunchy texture that is layered with a light and spicy avocado salsa for a refreshing and creamy taste. This dish offers a unique and contrasting combination of flavours that is sure to delight any palate. Our Fritto Misto di Mare is made with succulent pieces of black cod, tender baby calamari, and plump prawns, coated in a light and crispy batter for a perfect balance of flavours and textures.
For the main course, we highly recommend our Baked Seabass Wrapped in Parchment Paper and Grilled US Black Angus Rib-eye Steak Tagliata. The former is a masterpiece of coastal Italian cuisine, with sustainably sourced seabass baked to perfection with fresh clams and mussels, sealed in parchment paper to lock in its natural juices and flavours, creating a perfectly aromatic and flavourful experience. The latter is grilled to your liking and served sliced, with a side of fresh rocket salad, juicy cherry tomatoes, Parmesan cheese, and drizzled with a balsamic glaze, creating an excellent choice for the warm weather.
Pasta is certainly a comforting dish that Italian would have daily. Indulge in our delicious Panzerotti with Porcini Mushrooms in Sage Butter Sauce, made with fresh pasta, filled with earthy porcini mushrooms and drizzled with a rich and aromatic sage butter sauce. Another highlight is our Classic Spaghetti Carbonara, made with guanciale, pecorino Romano cheese, and pasteurised egg yolk. Unlike many carbonara recipes, this dish does not include cream, yet preserve the authentic Italian flavour.
To end your meal on a sweet note, our Sabayon with Mixed Berries offers a luxurious and creamy custard flavoured with Marsala wine and is served with a medley of fresh berries. For those who want to try all three classic Italian desserts at once, our Classic Italian Dessert Platter is the perfect choice, featuring tiramisu, panna cotta, and sabayon.
Experience Classic Italian Cocktails in a Beachside Setting
An impressive meal should always be accompanied by great cocktails, and our new menu features three classic Italian cocktails: Aperitini, made with a blend of Aperol, Campari, tequila, orange juice, and Prosecco, is refreshing and citrusy that is perfect for enjoying during a sunset. Limoncello Gin Collins is made with Limoncello as the main base, along with gin and lemon juice, creating a tangy yet sweet flavour. Finally, Rossini Strawberry uses strawberry puree mixed with Prosecco for a fruity and refreshing taste that is perfect for warm beach days. These classic Italian cocktails showcase the passion of Italy and are sure to bring joy to anyone who tries them.

Convenient Transportation to Ma Wan
There are convenient public transport connections from the city centre to Ma Wan and Cafe Roma. Direct bus routes from Tsing Yi, Tsuen Wan, and Kwai Fong take only 15 to 20 minutes. Guests can also take the ferry at Central Pier No. 2 to reach Ma Wan, taking approximately 30 minutes.
